Text Box: What is Ballroom Dancing?
Ballroom dance refers to a set of partner dances that are danced socially and competitively around the globe. It is for young and old.
There are International and American Style Ballroom dances. The dances most commonly called Ballroom Dances are Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Jive, Samba, Mambo, Bolero and Paso Doble. Other dances that are considered by many to be Ballroom Dances are West Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step, Polka and Salsa.

Why should I dance?
Mainly because it is so much fun. But the benefits are endless.   Researchers have found that just 21 minutes of dancing, three times a week, can match the cardiovascular benefits from working out on a treadmill or bicycle.  For weight control, a study by California State University shows that ballroom dancers can easily burn 250 calories to 300 calories an hour. In fact, Mayo Clinic researchers reported that social dancing helps to:
Reduce stress
Increase energy
Improve strength
Increase muscle tone and coordination
Mental Health — Dancing is a unique form of exercise because it provides the heart-healthy benefits of an aerobic exercise while also allowing you to engage in a social activity. This is especially stimulating to the brain.

Can I learn to dance?
“I have two left feet. I’m too old. I’m uncoordinated. I’ve never danced in my life.“ We hear this often.
The answer is YES! Anyone can learn to dance and enjoy themselves in the process. We have had the pleasure of teaching individuals as young as pre-teen as well as beginners in their late 80’s. These dancers come in all sizes, shapes and occupations.
